The Overseas Missions section of the Connexion promotes interest in the spreading of the gospel to people of other lands and generates practical support for such work. There is no Independent Methodist missionary society, but missionaries from member churches of the Connexion work with other missionary societies and receive support from the Connexion.

The department’s activities include:

• Welcome and farewell meetings for missionaries before and after their periods of service.
• The ‘U4 Mission’ project which encourages children to take an interest in missionary work.
• Liaison with missionary societies.
• Advising and interviewing prospective missionary candidates.
• Organisation of deputation visits for missionaries who are currently at home.
• Raising money to provide financial support for overseas
