Sunday 24th July
I really enjoy Bible Study so it is a pleasure on a Monday evening to lead the church Bible Study as we considered some of the glories of the Lord Jesus Christ. I then had time to do some preparation for Annual Meeting, which is also how I spent Tuesday evening while others from church and the youth clubs went for an evening at the Bowling Alley.
We had our friends visiting from North Africa come for tea on Wednesday so it was good to be able to catch up with them before we went to the joint prayer meeting where it was tremendous to hear from one of the group that they had witnessed someone give their life to the Lord earlier that day. Our prayers were for people and situations around the world but mainly for the people and Churches of Seaham.
At choir practice on Thursday evening we got some new pieces of music to try so it was an interesting practice, one of the pieces was very new to me but I think that we will enjoy it. The other piece was "All that Jazz” which is certainly lots of fun.
Friday evening saw some running around taking our daughters to and from dance exams and some sorting out for church whilst on Saturday my task for the day was gardening. Due to other duties and so much rain recently I haven’t been able to get out into the garden so there was a fine crop of weeds which needed to be removed. As it was my birthday I did have a number of visitors who I was grateful to see as they briefly rescued me from the weeding.
On Sunday it was encouraging to see extra people at our home church even though we had some on holiday and some unable to get for other reasons, some of our irregular attenders came and others came to support the preacher giving an added air of excitement. It was good to worship God, who clearly spoke to many in the congregation. At the close of the service our friends from North Africa came for lunch and so that we could spend more time together while they are over here.
I was at Ford Estate Mission in Sunderland on Sunday evening to preach. It was lovely to have a young girl sing a solo accompanied by her father playing the guitar which added to the worship. The fellowship was very encouraging so it was a joy to share with them.
