Saturday 5th September saw the rededication of the buildings at Kent Street Community Church

following some major works. The buildings used to house Kent Street Mission but, when the mission was no longer viable, it was gifted to our Westy Fellowship, giving them a permanent home and base. Renaming it Kent Street Community Church was just the beginning and, over the last several years, God has blessed the work mightily. The latest stage of works were completed with the aid of a grant from the Connexion enabling access to a much larger grant from elsewhere and it was my privilege to represent you at this joyous evening of prayer and praise. Local comedian Charlie Hale gave his testimony to a full chapel and Bill and Eileen Matthews were also present in tribute to the amount of work the late John Dolan did to enable this work. Scripture says in Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish” – but in fellowships like Kent Street we see the benefits of working under God given vision – let’s pray that our churches are renewed in vision and love.

The morning of 6th September saw me once again at Friars Green – They are making the most of my pre-booked appointments with them as my diary fills up for the next two years. Please pray for my church at Friars Green as they release me to work within the wider Connexion – It is a sacrifice for them but one that they make willingly. The evening saw me preaching at my old church in Stockton Heath, Warrington – a chapel I will forever be grateful to (my home church for 25 years!).

Friday 11th saw my second Admin meeting and that set the tone for the weekend. On Saturday I attended meetings of the Vision Group, the Finance Group and showed my face at the Overseas Missions Meeting. A break for preaching on the Sunday followed by a trip into the Cheshire countryside and attendance at The Northwood Centre Management Group meeting on Thursday 17th (High Legh to the older ones!). It is truly humbling to see the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes… please pray for the work of these committees and all who serve on them.

Travelling to our Pemberton church on Saturday 19th September had me partaking in a Sausage Sizzle!

It was a joy to see not only members of the church, but also others from the local community. God blessed us with good weather and the children enjoyed a healthier activity in a bouncy castle! We should not underestimate the power of low key outreach like this, simply sharing the love of Christ through food and fellowship. It was also good to see work being done in the chapel to make the space more user friendly.

Saturday 26th September heralded a church members meeting at Friars Green as the normal rhythm of things continue. The next day had me taking the Connexions greetings to our Moorside church, near Swinton, Manchester, as I preached the Word there. It was a treat to share in tea and cake after the service and to catch up with current issues. I was preaching at Friars Green in the evening.
