Appleton CakesCommunity share in Appleton’s Diamond Jubilee celebration

Appleton Independent Methodist (AIM) Christian Fellowship enjoyed a weekend of celebration on the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The weekend started on the Saturday with a "Last Night of the Proms” style event which was supported by sixty people from the church and community.

The event was sponsored by Appleton Parish Council who made no charge for the hire of the parish hall. The entertainment for the evening included a mixture of spiritual and secular songs with prayers said for Her Majesty.

During the evening a letter that the church had received from Her Majesty was read out. The communication from Buckingham Palace was in response to a letter from the church to the Queen sent with good wishes and assurance of prayer.  There was much flag waving and singing and afterwards everyone enjoyed patriotically decorated cakes!

Through the event, the church made some very good contacts with the community and the evening was considered to be a success. On the following day, the church had a Jubilee Sunday which took the form of an all-age service led by Brenda Noble. During the course of the service there were all manner of Jubilee related aspects including a Union Jack Prayer time, and illustrated messages that shared the Gospel with the whole congregation. Following the service a "Big Lunch” was provided in the form of a BBQ and buffet. A great weekend was had by all, when we celebrated our Queen’s remarkable reign and where the King of kings was shared with the community.
